Hope for Habitat: Katrina X brought together 20 artists with works inspired by celebrities, celebrating the catharsis of the arts toward post-Katrina recovery. Many of the works were autographed by the celebs who inspired them. Works were auctioned in support of the artists and their efforts and to benefit East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity.
Celebrities who provided autographs in support of this event included Tony Hawk, The Charlie Daniels Band, Ian Somerhalder, Channing Tatum, Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson and The History Channel’s Swamp People cast members Terral Evans and Johnny Panks.
Celebs who autographed paper leaves for the mixed media “Rebirth” tree included Somerhalder, Ted Nugent, Evander Holyfield, India Arie, BernNadette Stanis, Heisman Trophy Winner Johnny Rodgers and Super Bowl Champion Phil Villapiano.
Additionally, the efforts were recognized with receipt of a commemorative copy of the speech that President Obama delivered in New Orleans on August 29, 2015, the Tenth Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The document was hand-signed by the President.
The event included an art exhibit, auction and commemorative Hope for Habitat book featuring the artists’ works and their Katrina stories.
