Through this grassroots effort, with just one week from concept to load-in, we delivered an estimated $250,000 in relief efforts to NY and NJ via Amtrak’s Crescent Route, followed with an additional load of relief supplies, gift cards and children’s gifts one month later on the “Train of Hope for the Holidays.” This subsequent run included toys and donations collected from all 50 states in an effort to show nationwide support of the post-Sandy recovery.
